War zone

This body is a battlefield,
A heart at war with a head,
A head that knows certain things cannot be,
A heart that longs for them silently…

Regardless of the victor,
A cost there definitely will be,
There won’t be any spoils of war,
Just carnage you cannot see.

Neither side has an advantage,
No allies to call upon,
Through wails, wounds and setbacks,
they struggle on their own.

The battle rages on, each side fighting alone,
An unrelenting stalemate inside a flesh war zone.
